The municipal trail system was formed from existing horse/cow trails, former railway lines, historic paths, lakeside boardwalks and newly developed trails. The trails vary from lakefront, dense forests, rugged riverside single track, to the tranquil feel of wilderness seclusion – right in the heart of the municipality! The race route trails are part of this system – an entirely intra-town system with a variety of challenging terrain for a cyclist. The course is approximately 28 km long. It roughly breaks down to 12km of hard surfaces, 13 km of single track, and 3km of paved roads. The single track will have some natural dismount features as well as handling skill challenges regardless of the bike you choose to ride. The route finishes downtown at Queen’s Lookout Park overlooking the lake. This pleasant, scenic location is also where the awards will be held, and then adjourn to the brewery next door!
