Snowmobiling

With over 2000 kilometers of beautifully groomed snowmobile trails in Bruce County, the fun never ends. You can expect unparalleled views of Lake Huron, rolling farmland, shaded forests, and the stunning Niagara Escarpment. 

Near Walkerton, you will find miles of wide-open trails along the Saugeen River. Following the Saugeen River Tour you will experience diverse scenic viewpoints from the Niagara Escarpment, rolling farmland, and beautifully wooded forests. It really is a winter wonderland! Nearby Walkerton, the Greenock Clubhouse is a wonderful place to warm up and make some new sledding friends!  

Be sure to visit ofsc.on.ca to locate parking and purchase your trail pass. Purchasing a permit is imperative to fund trail maintenance and ensure the trails are safe and enjoyable for all riders. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) also provides an interactive map of all Ontario trails, which works great to plan your trip to Bruce County.  

Saugeen River Trail

Following the historic railway lines developed in the 1800s, the Saugeen River Trail is an approximately 5.5km trail which offers a variety of activities all year round. In the winter, the trail becomes a peaceful environment for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. With forested areas as well as river views, no matter the activity, the Saugeen River Trail is a beautiful location to get your winter exercise in! Once you're done, come visit downtown Walkerton where you can grab a hot chocolate and delicious warm meal in one of the several eateries.  

Outdoor Skating Fun

For fun for the whole family, be sure to check out the outdoor skating oval in Walkerton's Lobies Park. Here you can enjoy the downtown charm as the crisp winter air invigorates your senses. As long as there is enough ice, the approximately 280-metre-long skating oval will operate with gorgeous scenery and allows for safe distance between skaters outdoors. With exercise being imperative to overall well-being, getting outside for a skate at Lobies Park is an easy and accessible way to enjoy the outdoors while raising your heart rate. There are also picnic tables to lace up at or take a break, as well as portable washrooms nearby. Downtown Walkerton

Walkerton's beauty along the Saugeen River is something to behold. The picturesque nature intersects with the refreshing, innovative atmosphere of the several downtown shops and eateries. The Victorian architecture of Walkerton's downtown core brings a historical charm to the town, unalike city shopping centers. Additionally, with all the local, unique stores and restaurants, your shopping experiences is bound to be enjoyable.   

Walkerton's clean water living motto is featured in the town's unique "fish art" tour. When visiting Walkerton, be sure to take a walk around town and find the 11 metal fish sculptures beautifully painted by local artists. Representing Walkerton as one of Canada's best fly-fishing destinations, these fish are everywhere!
