Situated on in the heart of Wiarton’s downtown, is a classic bookstore called Berford Street Bookstore & Bazaar. It is overflowing with all types of books. Only 11 feet wide, it is a treasure hunt that you simply won’t want to miss.
For all book lover’s visiting Bruce County, it is worth the trip alone to to scavenge through the avalanche of new and used books.
After you have ferreted through the estimated 20,000 books this thin but long bookstore has on hand, you can nab a comfortable reading chair in the back and order a cup of freshly brewed organic fair trade locally roasted coffee. Yes that’s a mouthful to say, but the local roasters have packed so much flavour into their beans that the aroma itself takes your breath away when you enter this unique store. The Ironwood Coffee Company is one of two wood fired roasteries in all of Canada; their coffee is served in only one spot in Wiarton and that’s at the Bookstore both in whole beans and by the cup.
A trip to this Bookstore is only complete by admitting that you just have to come back for another peruse!
