The views from the deck on the MS Chi Cheemaun

Crossing the main channel, stand on the ship’s deck to watch over Georgian Bay as the sun dawns in the east on another adventurous day. Coming home, gaze west from the MS and watch the sun melt into golden Lake Huron.

Board the MS Chi-Cheemaun, or the Big Canoe, by car, camper, or bike (motor and pedal) or bus for a short cut to Northern Ontario or an experience in its own right. Set sail for a 2 hour cruise from Tobermory at the very tip of the Bruce Peninsula, to Manitoulin Island, the world’s largest freshwater island. The 111 metre ship can ferry almost 650 passengers and over 140 vehicles! To make the 40 kilometre crossing comfortable, the ferry has a complete cafeteria service, a children’s play area, indoor and outdoor lounges and a “Boatique” gift shop.

Sunset dinner cruise and traditional storytelling

But the MS Chi-Cheemaun isn’t only a means of getting from here to there. Sunset Dinner Cruise & Concert Series pair Traditional Storytelling and live concerts with delectable three-course, gourmet dinners. Are you catching the last sail back to the mainland? Late evening sailings are a mystical star-gazing voyage. An experienced astronomer guides passengers through the Bruce Peninsula’s Dark Sky Reserve. Night sky Astronomy Tours will help you find stars, meteors and many other hidden treasures in the sky.
