On Saturday, July 12, 2025, we invite you to our first donation of farmland, the Bourgeois Farm for Rooted in Community: Open House Day, a celebration of land, legacy, and the shared future we’re building together. Everyone is welcome!
The Bourgeois Farm is no ordinary property. It is Ontario Farmland Trust’s first-ever donation of farmland, generously gifted by the late Ann and Eugene Bourgeois, founders of the Philosopher’s Wool Company and visionaries who believed deeply in sustainability, food sovereignty, and community. As the new stewards of this land, we’re proud to carry their values forward.
Activities include:
Guided Farm Tours (10:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM): Learn about the farm’s history, species at risk, invasive species management, and how OFT plans to make this land a hub for conservation and community-led projects.
Philosopher’s Wool Company Open House & Local Vendors: Our friends at Philosopher’s Wool will open their doors for tours and shopping, and local artisans will join us to showcase their goods.
Exciting Announcements: We’re announcing two exciting new opportunities, and we want your input!
Legacy Garage Sale & Fundraiser: Browse unique items from the farm’s past while supporting its future. Proceeds will go toward property improvements and stewardship efforts.
Community Visioning & Volunteer Sign-Up: Have ideas for the farm? Drop by and leave your thoughts on how you’d like to see the farm evolve, and learn how to get involved.
