Bruce in Battle: Life in the 160th Battalion April 12, 2:00 PM

Explore the experiences of Bruce County’s 160th Battalion soldiers with Kent Kraemer, founder of the 160th Bruce Battalion Facebook page chronicling the 160th’s day-to-day activities throughout the First World War beginning in 2015.

Bruce County’s residents did some amazing things during military service, and Kent will share the experiences of “Paddy” Pettigrew with his championship wiring team, and Robert Clarke Rowand, the most highly decorated soldier of the 160th.

In recognition of Archives Awareness Week, Kent will also share his inspiration for researching the Battalion, some history and stories from the “Bruce in Khaki” newspaper, and information about how he used the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre and other Archives for his research.

  • After the presentation, join Archives staff for a behind-the-scenes tour of the archival storage area and an opportunity to view a selection of items not often on display, and/or
  • Visit BCM&CC’s exhibits, with a tour guide present in the military gallery to share more stories about Bruce County soldiers.
