This tour highlights the shadowy prohibition days of Bruce County and the men who laboured in the bowels of the 20,000-acre Greenock Swamp, making moonshine in the dead of the night. Hear about their amazing stories, the hardships, the lure of fast money and the penalties that came with getting caught. The tour includes a visit to the Walkerton Jail (one of Ontario’s oldest – no longer used), where you can retrace the footsteps of some of the infamous inmates. Each Greenock Swamp Tour (3 in total), takes place on Saturdays (see dates), from 2 – 7pm and includes bus transportation, wine and/or beer tasting, tours of historical buildings, local actors who portray historical figures, and a full Bruce County Church Supper with all the trimmings! All tours begin and conclude at the historical Chepstow Church for 2pm. Bus transportation is provided from there. Coordinated by the Cargill and Greenock Swamp Promotional Association, in partnership with the Municipality of Brockton
