Muse-Talks: Innovative Technologies Join us for a DOUBLE Muse Talks feature evening with two talks about how new technologies are revolutionizing both the healthcare and maritime industries. Health, Wellness, and Simulation – How Hi-Tech Manikins are Revolutionizing the Healthcare Industry Enjoy a hands-on demonstration with nursing manikins–the latest in educational healthcare technology, with Dr. Treva Job, manager of the Simulation Centre for Health, Wellness, and Sciences at Georgian College. You’ll learn about the real-life scenarios that manikins are able to simulate to prepare nurses for a wide variety of medical situations, how the virtual feedback they produce can prevent future errors, and how this technology is evolving as a result of AI. Mysterious Waters: New Advances in Marine Technology Uncover the mysteries of navigating the open waters and discover how technology is revolutionizing the maritime world with Captain Colin MacNeil, an instructor in Georgian College’s Marine Navigation and Marine Engineering advanced diploma programs. Cpt. MacNeil will be joined by team members at the Centre for Marine Training and Research (CMTR), recognized as Central Canada’s marine centre of excellence. In this talk, you’ll learn about: The critical role that the maritime sector plays in our daily lives, and rapid technical advancements on ships including new fuels and navigation equipment. How Georgian College supports Great Lakes and ocean-bound shipping and transport in using digital modeling to build modern fleets and develop the skills to operate vessels. The use of simulation at Georgian College’s Marine Emergency Duties Centre in Owen Sound which features live-fire and in-water training to prepare mariners for emergency events on the open water. $10 Members; $20 Non-Members | $6 Students Grade 11 and 12 students enrolled in: Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSMs) OR Marine Navigation and Marine Engineering Programs will receive FREE admission to this event at the door.
