Explore on Two Wheels

Gather your biking friends, pack your gear and load up your bike for a cycling adventure along the shoreline of Lake Huron.

Explore along the shoreline and visit the waterfront communities of Port Elgin and Southampton and Kincardine.

Day 1

For your cycling trip, find a place to stay and explore the communities of Kincardine, Ripley and Point Clark.

Why? Feel a sense of adventure as you explore along the Lake Huron coast and down country roads on two wheels. Cycle on roads with minimal traffic and take in the fresh air along the shoreline.

Day 2

Start your morning with breakfast at Watercress Bistro

For a cycling route, consider Lighthouses South, which goes along the shores of Lake Huron, takes you down country roads, and features two lighthouses. Looking for a shorter route? Bike along the shoreline down Boiler Beach Road.

Bike to Ripley and enjoy a delicious lunch at FIG Studio Kitchen, the perfect stopping point for a bite to eat.

Make your way back towards the lake and stop at the Point Clark Lighthouse. Take in this impressive structure, one of the imperial towers built out of limestone from nearby Inverhuron. If tours are available during your visit, climb up to the top for an unforgettable view of the shoreline and turquoise waters of Lake Huron.

Bike back to Kincardine and make a stop at Boiler Beach to see the remains of the washed-up boiler from the Erie Belle steam ship that exploded in the late 1800’s. As you approach Kincardine, enjoy the view of the harbour and Kincardine Lighthouse.

A popular spot for cyclists to stop at is Grey Matter Beer Company. Located in downtown Kincardine, this craft brewery is a great place to unwind with an excellent view of the lake and Lighthouse. End the day with dinner downtown at Bar Down or Locals.

Day 3

After your big day of biking, take a slower approach to the day and stroll through downtown Kincardine. Grab a coffee and enjoy a great selection of shopping for clothing, gifts and home accessories at stores like West Shore Surf Shoppe, The Loop, Harbour Rose Boutique and Stilara. For all your adventure gear needs, be sure to visit Penetangear for top quality outdoor clothing, accessories and excellent customer service.
