Family Fun

The perfect destination to keep everyone entertained – the kids especially.

Here’s the thing about making a family vacation successful: you’ve got to wear the kids out. Many parents are overwhelmed with the prospect of finding fun and interesting activities to keep the kids entertained.

But channeling infinite amounts of energy is easy in Bruce County. Here are classic examples of great family activities in Bruce County.

  1. Hit the beach

Grab your towels, beach chairs, toys and floaties. Find yourself a spot on one of many iconic beaches. Pack a picnic or bring some cash for a yummy beach lunch or dinner from one of the local vendors, and watch the sun set over the horizon.

  1. Dare to pitch a tent or park a trailer

Kids love exploring the campgrounds, roasting marshmallows, chasing frogs and building memories to last a lifetime.

  1. Get moving

Hiking isn’t just for grown-ups. Make sure your little ones have proper footwear (yourselves too!), pack some snacks and water, and head out on the trails for the ultimate adventure.

  1. Make a splash

When the kids have had enough beach time (if at all possible), they can still cool off on the hot summer day at one of many splashpads! Or, get them to burn off some energy at a local playground while you enjoy an iced coffee from a local shop.

  1. Get a delicious taste of family fun

If you’re obsessed with all things culinary, weave food into your family activities. Dive into the (agri)culture of our farm communities. Make memories with your family and harvest your own fruit and veg at a local Pick Your Own. Many farms have family-friendly activities or on-farm markets allowing you to extend your stay and spend more time outdoors. A win-win, if you ask us.

  1.  Explore perfect starter cultural destinations

No velvet ropes or dusty collections here. Enjoy culturally-immersive experiences at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton – packed full of fun for the whole family. Kids love the interactive exhibits and have a hard time leaving the iconic indoor ship! And with 17 Bruce County Library locations, there is no shortage of great reading, programs, activities and events to help fill your days.

  1. Sweeten the deal when it’s raining

We can all agree that the rain can stop us from exploring outdoors in Bruce County. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of fun rainy day activities, whether you’re a kid or adult. Let’s seize the chance to turn a rainy day into an opportunity to tick off ideas from your bucket list.
